The open park "Blizhnaya dacha" has changed unrecognizably in the last year: an artificial lake as well as a modern promenade with man-made public areas have appeared on the huge landscaped areas. Just minutes from Moscow the park’s guests find themselves in the well-cared-for forested area, where the animals imported by the customer have found their home: herons, cranes, ducks and even chipmunks. The waterbodies here are well suited for fishing, and a team of specialists takes care of their well-being.
Inside, Maria Ksenofontova allotted a podium with the stage for events, and divided the main area into two halls connected by common visual solutions. The first one provides space for a statuary grill, an open kitchen and a large seating area.
Indoor pavilions designed in a consistent style are meant to make the space comfortable at any time of the year. They remind of traditional European chalets with their sloping roof and austere wood fronts. An all-glass pavilion located by the water was originally meant as a summer time relaxation space, but in the process of design it turned into a heated full-fledged leisure area. The building frame is made of half timber cedar beams with the help of American technology Timber frame. All materials are weather-resistant and will look neatly even years ahead. The team faced the lower part of the construction with natural stone, and visually prolonging it with large boulders to the shoreline. Panoramic windows in graphic frames open on a view of the lake and an artificial waterfall.
Expressive natural materials, such as stone and warm cedar wood helped set natural feeling in the interior. Graphite slate with imperceptible joints was ideal for the walls. The designer considered slate slabs for the floor, but had to reject that due to the footprints. As a result the choice fell on darl Brazilian granite, that highlighted the leather furniture and light textiles.
The team’s favourite area was a set of sanitary facilities: the customer decided to change the plan of design in the process and now the guest can wash their hand with a fantastic view on the water surface. Calm texture used in decoration do not steal the show and leave the composition harmonic: all the elements work well together.
The furniture for the project was selected from the available range — light tables and chairs for terrace we found in 4sis brand and part of the massive dining tables were custom made by Swedish company Brafab. Some items were made by local workshops with designer drafts to maximise the potential of the project. The dutch armchairs by Eichholz emphasised the aura of respectability. The choice of lights was particularly interesting. An arragement of ceiling lights by Ingo Maurer under the arch of the main hall ceiling fit in to the concept thanks to their resemblance to fisher floats and the shape of the shades favourably mimics the shape of roof corner of the building. The table lamps by Aromas Del Campo flirt with their geometry. Wall mounted sconces required careful consideration: as the wood is prone to fall apart when heated, so the columns are hooped with metal rings. They were partly covered with belts, and the upper half was hid in casing — now the technical aspects do not interfere with the immaculacy of decor.
The name "Devkin's brook" was suggested by the customer, it was how one of the tributaries of the artificial lake was marked on the map. Now, even the name of the pavilion reflects the character of the surrounding landscape.
